Xiaomi Powerstrip Review: Solid!

[REVIEW] There is something really satisfying about getting a very good quality product because there are some really bad ones thesedays. So when the Xiaomi Powerstrip arrived, I am very pleased about it.

It feels like an Apple product when its removed from the box. Compact (22.5 x 4.1 x 2.6 cm), simple and solid. Xiaomi introduces its powerstrip as an “art among all the other powerstrips”. I concurred. It is one of the rare power strip that is your desktop-worthy.

The Xiaomi Powerstrip has 3 power sockets and 3 USB ports. The USB port is equipped with 2.1A quick charging technology, though this works when only one 1 USB port is used. When all 3 ports are charging, the total output is 3.1A. This is probably the most disappointing aspect of the product.

Xiaomi also claims a strong focus on quality and safety with the powerstrip. It comes with overload protection (10A) and made of material capable of withinstanding 750 degrees Celsius of burning. In the power efficiency department, Xiaomi claims a 82% power converasion rate. In other words, a power-efficient product. An anti-slip padding then checks off a list of everything you need for a powerstrip.

And then there is the tightness of the power sockets. Xiaomi claims that one requires 15kg worth of strength to unplug from the socket.  My conclusion is that Xiaomi is true to their words.

Also, as a Xiaomi product always do, the Xiaomi powerstrip is such a value-for-money product. Retailing at RMB49 and a quality certification of 5000 times plugging and unplugging, you can be assured that a relatively cheap product is extremely durable as well.

It is also important to note that the sockets aren’t specially made for use in Singapore. You need a adaptor for the powetstrip plug while its power sockets supports the common two pins plug found in Singapore. I don’t have an issue with this because I have quite a few devices with the Chinese plugs.

So, yet another impressive Xiaomi product. It would have been perfect had the USB ports collectively supported a higher output.
